Done all the work on my 95 mazda millenia. Never an issue he could't figure out or couldn't fix. Gave the best recipts I've ever seen. I don't have a lot to price against, but it seemed fair. If your getting a lot of expensive work done he'll usually clean the interior for free. For the bad: they're a little short with opinions. They'll call you back and say "here is the problem do you want to fix it or not", and if you try to negotiate you might get the impression they don't want to discuss it. You either get the work done or not, end of story. Also, only Ming and one other mechanic speak english, which isn't an issue in and of itself, but if it's busy and you have questions you have to wait for Ming to finish with the other customers.

Ming knows Audi cars very well, and equally important, he is honest. I have an Audi A6, and the check engine light was on. The error code suggested the problem was related to the catalytic converter. I talked to several shops asking for a quote, all of them said it would cost more than a thousand dollars to fix the catalytic converter or the oxygen sensor. Then I found Ming's shop by searching the internet, and stopped by his garage. After showing him the error code, he asked me the year of the car and the mileage. With this information, he immediately told me that the catalytic converter was still within the warranty and informed me that this could be fixed for free with Audi dealers. This information was a big relief for me and saved me ~ thousand dollars. As he suggested, the catalytic converter was replaced by an Audi dealer for free.

Ming's is great! My check engine light came on recently, and I took my car to a dealership (because I was on the road and near one). They told me that the light came on due to my oil control pumps and that it was most likely my head gaskets leaking oil. They immediately started quoting me 1700 dollars to replace all of them and trying to give me a loaner and start working on them. I called Ming who reminded me that they hadn't even confirmed that it was the head gaskets. I had my car towed to Ming's and rented a car on my own. Ming came to find out that it was not the head gaskets at all, but a leak. He fixed it, and I was out the door, not 1700 bucks deep, but more like 400. He saved me! I love Ming's!

Ming's shop is exceptional is every way. I used to bring my Audi to the dealer, but the costs were simply outrageous. I did some research and read some great reviews about Ming's shop....what a find !! Ming is a consummate professional and offers you a fair assessment of the work that needs to be done. Most recently, Ming assisted me with collision repairs by helping me locate a reliable auto body repair shop. Ming offered to bring my car over to the auto body repair shop at no cost and checked in on the work to make sure it came out flawless. Ming has also offered to stay late on numerous occasions to allow me to pick up my car after hours and he always explains every detail of the repair to me. Ming's shop is a rare find in the city: a friendly, reasonably priced, experienced repair shop that genuinely values the satisfaction of its customers.

I found Ming's auto shop after being jerked around by the Gulf Auto Body Shop in Newton on Washington St. You see, I am not a car person, so I am left to the mercy of the mechanic to do whatever it is that he/she says about my car, as I know nothing about whether they are telling the truth or not. At the gulf station I was told that my O2 sensors were screwed up, but instead of replacing the O2 sensors, they replaced the computer, an air intake valve, and something else- costing me $1700, yet my check engine light was still on, and my engine still revved at red lights. So after blowing 6 weeks pay at the gulf I went to Ming's and explained to him my situation- how I was ignorant about everything involving cars and how my car was still broken yet i had already put $1700 worth of work into it. Ming has been great to me. He fixed my car over night for $900, explaining to me everything that was wrong and all the possible ways we could fix it, each with their own plusses and minuses. It was nice to be given the full discloser of information and actually given all my options to explore from the mechanics point of view. What has impressed me most about Ming's shop is the treatment I have received since become one of their customers, Since my O2 sensors replacement, I have had to bring my car into Ming 3 times because a light has shown up on my dashboard, or my trunk stopped popping open, or my passenger door was sticky. Each time he has personally made time for me on short notice and diagnosed the problem himself, and has given me the cheaper "fix-it-yourself" options, when he could have easily had me leave my car with him for an hour and charged me manual labor. He has always treated me with respect and I trust that Ming's shop will give me all of my possible options to explore in fixing my car, before charging me an arm and a leg for any procedures. Ming's a great guy, and a wonderful mechanic. I strongly recommend anyone taking their car to see Ming.

I have been bringing my cars to Ming and recommending him for over 10 years. He always explains the repairs to me, which is extremely important, as far as I'm concerned. He's even the one who told me when it was time to retire my last car rather than put more money into it. If that's not honest, I don't know what is! I never have any reservations about recommending Ming to friends and family.

I have gone to Ming's for 5 years and recommended many co-workers to him. So far everyone -- including me -- has been very satisfied. His garage is small and doesn't have a place for you to even sit; he will have one of his guys drive you/pick you up if you live near for free. He is very understanding of your situation; he will quickly remember you by your name and everything about your car(s). I found Ming's from Cars.com and have not gone anywhere else since day one. Best recommendation I've gotten anywhere!!!

After getting a 2600 estimated repair bill for transmission fixes for my 2000 Passat from Boston VW, I decided to try Ming's Auto Repair. They diagnosed a water leak which was causing my transmission control sensor to malfunction. They fixed the water leak, dried the transmission control sensor and saved me $2300. Separately, Boston VW quoted $1500 to replace my timing belt. Ming's crew replaced the timing belt and other parts for much less. Friendly, honest, and competent service. They even offer shuttle rides to Harvard or Central Square.

A friend recommended Ming to me and I have been very happy. Ming gives great service, does a great job at giving you an upfront explanation of what is going on with the car and what he suggests needs to be done and he is reasonably priced. I would certainly recommend him to others.

Ming's been working on my VW Passat for several years. I took my car there upon the recommendation of a friend, which turns out to have been a fantastic recommendation. I subsequently had taken my car to the dealership for a recall repair, at which time the dealership indicated I needed to have other repairs to the tune of $1200. Ming did the repairs for just over $700. I only had one instance where a repair wasn't fixed the first time (heater system). I took it back over a year later when the heater issue resurfaced. Even though it was over a year later, Ming didn't charge me any labor charges to fix the heater system. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone as an honest, highly qualified superb mechanic.
